BOARD OF THE ASSOCIATION

The French School Jules Verne is managed by the school’s Support Association, a non-profit organization ruled by Finnish law. Any parent of (or person entrusted with parental custody over) a child attending the school is automatically a member of the association. The association elects the Board, which is responsible for the administrative and financial management of the school.

The Board of the French School Jules Verne’s Support Association is elected at the General Assembly that is held each year in the autumn. All parents are eligible to join the Board through the election process, and can submit their candidacy by informing the School Secretary’s office. Parents serve on the Board as volunteers.

 

The Board comprises of the following persons. Elected parents are the only members allowed to vote in Board meetings.

  • a Chairperson
  • a Vice-chairperson
  • a Treasurer
  • a Secretary
  • and any other elected parent members

The following are advisory members of the Board. These members serve in an advisory role, and cannot vote at the meetings.

  • the school Headmistress
  • the school Executive Assistant
  • a representative of the French Embassy (Cultural Counselor or his/her representative)

The Comité de Gestion meetings are held monthly. The Board is responsible for the management of the school, determines the school budget and makes all decisions relating to:

  • financial matters,
  • staff under local contracts,
  • long-term strategy,
  • communication and marketing.

Elected members work closely with the school Headmaster. Financial accounts and the annual budget are presented to all parents at the General Assembly usually held in March. This meeting also includes a vote on any proposed changes in tuition rates.
