WHY JULES VERNE?

The Ecole Française Jules Verne is a French school following the French national curriculum, welcoming students from Maternelle (starting from age 3) to Elementary School. Jules Verne offers children a rich learning experience, including French language immersion and a varied curriculum including art, music and dance, reading and writing, math and science, and sports.

Jules Verne School provides French children residing in Finland access to the official French education system and continuity in their schooling. Classroom teachers are French graduate teachers certified by the French Ministry of Education. As a French school abroad and a member of the network of the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE), the Ecole Française Jules Verne’s mission is twofold:

The school is accredited by the French Ministry of Education and follows the French national curriculum, ensuring that French children living in Finland will have continuity in their education, with grade levels and curriculum consistent with all French schools around the world. Classroom teachers are French graduate teachers certified by the French Ministry of Education.

As part of this mission, Jules Verne welcomes children from all nationalities and backgrounds, and proficiency in French language is not required for admission before age 6. The school provides French language immersion and introduces non-French speaking children to French through games, songs, and activities to help them build a lifelong interest and facility in the language. In addition Jules Verne works with its partner, the Institut Français to promote French culture and language, organizing events, lectures and courses throughout Finland.

The one main reason why we live in Punavuori area is the Jules Verne School – we moved to this area so that it would be easy to walk to school… We believe that it is good for children to learn the French language and French culture. And we also believe that Jules Verne’s multicultural learning environment will help our child in her development as a person – now and in the future.

We want to give our child a profound basis of French language, culture, habits etc. We appreciate the way that art, science and physical exercise are combined in the school’s curriculum. Discipline and creativity are also in harmony at the school. We appreciate that the school includes male teachers (in addition to female teachers) in the Maternelle education. It is especially important for a boy’s development.

The school is a great “kielikylpy“ (language bath/ immersion) for kids who do not have French as a home language. The school is also very active in arts and teachers are great.
And big bonus is Véronique Kauraniemi (the school Executive Assistant) who is ``the great soul of the school``.
